Meg Profile

Hello, welcome and thanks for coming by my site. I’m a textile artist based in Cornwall where I live and work, with my husband. I make lovely things for lovely people. Beautiful , handcrafted , textile creations from knitted teddy bears to raw silk, embroidered pictures mounted on driftwood.

If you love all things textiles, have a project in mind, want to commission some artwork or maybe some cushions for you lovely home – you’re in the right place. Get comfy and take a look around – look at some examples of my work, see what textile services I can provide, get in touch about a commission or just say hi, whatever you like!

I’ve worked with textiles from a very young age. I remember making things as soon as I was able, sewing very unrecognisable cushions and other creations.

My mum recognised my talent early on, each time I took another great chunk out of the middle of some her material from her treasured collections!

I love using cottons, vintage linens, and silks. I also like to work with reclaimed materials and use natural resources in my work….pebbles, sea worn glass and drift wood…all from my local beaches. I’ve even pressed a flower and used that in my embroidery in a piece called truth.wooden button

The beauty of textiles is versatility. I really like using different stitches and layering – I try to create as much interest as possible.

Much of my inspiration comes from the natural environment, creation…..for example I look to nature to see which colours go together. Also, very much through my faith, from visions, impressions and worship.

The created becomes the creator is my motto.

Practical needs are a great inspirer… I need a cushion, so I make one. I like making home. Also poems, lines of songs and verses of the bible, they bring images to my mind which reflect their meaning and I try to replicate them in my work.

I even tend to sew words or sentences onto my work…..often the title of my work is written within it somewhere.

Please get in touch with any questions or requirements you might have.
